1 Year
Hello friends, family, and loved ones,
Last week was my one year as a missionary! Yay! I'm sorry I did not write an email. I drafted one, but to be quite curt, it was only two sentences long. And if I send an email to nearly 100 people, I want it to be better than two sentences.
This past Friday, we had transfers! I am staying in BZ for a third transfer. I do have a new companion; her name is Sister Jo. She studied illustration before the mission, and she has been on the mission for eight months. She has amazing art skills and is really dedicated to the work here in Mongolia. I am happy to spend the next six weeks with her!
This week I have been showing Sister Jo around our area. She has only been in one area, so it's been nice to show her new things. This week we were able to meet with a new investigator on Sunday, and we are so excited to teach her more. We are also helping the two new sisters reopen the second sisters' apartment.
Well, I still don't have a lot for this week.
But here is a quick spiritual thought:
You all need to read Mosiah 14. It is a reference to Isaiah 53. It's awesome. My favorite verse from this transfer is verse 5, which reads:
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Gosh, I don't think a verse has sucker-punched me in the gut more. It reminds me that Jesus Christ has suffered so much for us. He has given up His very life so that we could live our lives with a chance for redemption. He was resurrected, paving the way for us to one day be with God again. This great gift was given to us because of the love of God.
He loves you. He loves all His children. And He has given us this amazing chance because He knows we need to grow.
Keep warm,
Sister Vestel
