Snow
Hey all,
This week we got our first official snowfall of the winter, so I am officially in an apple cider mood.
We have had a lot of little blessings recently with having chances to connect with the youth, getting to meet with some less active members on Sunday, and getting free taxi rides!
This past Thursday, we went to something called Toastmasters. This is basically a worldwide English club that gives speeches and meets every week. I got chosen to do one of the random speeches, and my darling companion Sister Beghetti got some "mom photos" of me. She is awesome.
Saturday and Sunday of this week (one of our members actually brought a cat), we were able to watch a worldwide broadcast from our leaders in the church. This is called General Conference. And if you're in America right now thinking, "Wait, General Conference was last week... what is she talking about?" then you're totally not wrong.
However, with the time difference, it is just easier to listen to and watch General Conference in Mongolian the next week. This worked well in our favor because we had a mission-wide fast last Sunday.
Speaking of that fast, all of the missionaries were asked to fast and pray in order to find families to teach. We were able to find a family who had a college-aged son who is a member. He lives in Ulaanbaatar, but we are hoping to get closer to the family and offer church lessons if they want them. For now, we are just going to be friends.
This week I want to share about the talk given by José A. Teixeira. He talks about the "ye are the salt of the earth" parable given by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Teixeira's talk was super cool, and I loved his comment about how salt is a combination of two chemicals and how we cannot be the salt of the earth on our own, but we need to be bonded to Christ as well.
