Summer Solstice

Image
Hi y'all! I definitely forgot to write in my last email, but because of another sister going home for medical reasons, Sister Curtis and I became a trio with Sister Sawyer joining us! I am so happy Sister Sawyer is with us because she is super funny, has amazing language skills, and is just an amazing missionary. The summer solstice was this week, and it was SUPER rainy and cold. So cold, in fact, that it started SNOWING. It was so awesome! We had a huge puddle in front of our house because of the rain and snow. Sister Curtis (the only one with rain boots) gave us a piggyback ride across the puddle, and it was hilarious. She really is a Christlike person. One spiritual thing that happened to me this week was when I was on transfer with one of our STLs, Sister Lee. For those of you who don't know what an STL is, it is a sister companionship who is in charge of the sisters in their zone. They go on exchanges and check up on them regularly to make sure everyone is doing well and t...

Miracles And Expensive Puppies

Hello Everyone! This week has been pretty good. With all the kids out of school and the beautiful summer weather, all the city dwellers have gone out to the countryside. Those who are still in the city (RIP) are working double time to make a few extra dollars as the foreigners come to visit. While I'm getting depressed about the lack of meetings, I can still enjoy the land of the blue sky (Mongolia's nickname). But seriously though, we haven't had a meeting since last Tuesday. We have had a lot of downtime to focus on passing out English cards and sending lots of spiritual thoughts out. One of the coolest miracles that I have seen this past week was our interactions with our elders. We share the Selbe ward with two elders and got them some little drinks and candy because we felt like doing something nice. Then, in retaliation, they made us хуушуур (hosher) (a fried meat pocket). The night they gave us хуушуур we had no water, so we could not make food for dinner. But we had...

Summer Vibes

Hi friends! Here is my Google Photos album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/9aEdm73y1tNbQoFZ6 This week has been pretty chill. We have a district goal of meeting our investigators, and we are still working on that. It seems like this transfer we have to beg our investigators to meet us because everyone is so busy with tourist season. It's actually so weird to see so many гадна хүн (outside people/foreigners). Just this week, I heard five people speaking fluent French. It was so cool. My Mongolian is doing great. I can definitely see the gift of the Holy Ghost helping me in lessons and when I talk to native Mongolians. I still have to try, though. I can't let getting a little better in a language get to my head. Spiritual thought: One of the things I thought about this week was the qualities of Jesus Christ and how we are directed by prophets to strive for those qualities. No matter if you are atheist, Baptist, Muslim, LDS, or Buddhist, there are qualities you see as better, and whoev...

Transfers!

Сайн байцгаан уу? (Hello to a group) This week Sister Kartchner was preparing to go back home to the States. Her finishing her mission reminded me of how quickly time flies by, so I really need to be intentional with what I do each day here on the mission. On Tuesday, we cleaned the apartment and headed out to the Mission Home! We got to see the district below us receive their transfers. It was nice to know that I am no longer a baby on the mission but a toddler instead. I got my second trainer! Her name is Sister Curtis, she is from Utah and is so energetic! She is already making me more and more excited for this transfer. She has a love for the people we teach that is just plain impressive. I think this transfer is going to be great! This past week I have been looking at and trying to find spiritual gifts and find my own spiritual gifts that I can share to make investigators or even the world a little happier. Some awesome scriptures that lay out spiritual blessings are: 1 Corinthian...
