I'm Killing My Trainer.
Hi All, I am so glad to be able to send an email out this week! So many little miracles have been happening!
But first, I want to clarify something from last week's email. I used the Mongolian word гэр (ger, said like pear but with a G). There is really no English word for this house structure. It is close to what we call a yurt or a hut. For future emails, if I have any Mongolian words like that, I'll put the English pronunciation next to it.
Oh yeah, I'm killing my trainer. That's missionary lingo that means I'll be her last companion because this is her last transfer! She only has 35 days left of her mission! She will "die" as a missionary in the сэлбэ (seltheeb - the area I am in now).
Last P-day was amazing! We rented bikes and were able to go through a park area! We saw a lot of roller skaters (really popular over here).
We are teaching English not only in the church but also in Mongolia's National Medical University. We are really blessed to have so many friends, both English students and investors!
We have had a lot of little blessings, like old inactive members who we are teaching actually praying by themselves or not being able to get into a building so we pray and someone walks out. A lot of little things that make me grateful to God!
We are currently teaching a 12-year-old girl whose name is Сайнсанаа (Sainsaunaa). Her mom and her grandma are both very inactive, both because someone offended them in the church. Mongolians are really easy to offend and not easy to reconcile... Anyways, we are so blessed with this family because the grandma joined our lesson last week and her mom walked us to the center square and actually talked to us. It was so cool!
Also, Tyler got his endowments! My parents were invited to go and see his endowments, and they were able to make it there and spend time with his family! I'm totally not jealous or anything! Jk, I'm glad that my parents got to meet one of my favorite people.
Anyways, I have not had the chance to take a lot of photos, but we were able to go to a museum on Monday! We saw a lot of cool portraits of past religious leaders in Buddhism and Mongolian leaders. One of the pictures is below. Does it remind you of someone from the Star Wars franchise?
With love,
Sister Vestel
