Hi all!
This week was really amazing. On Sunday, we had a really good devotion about the different people who saw Jesus Christ in the Book of Mormon. The MTC president talked about his experiences with his testimony. He asked God three times and poured his soul out in wonder of his question. Each time, God did not answer. Now, this might seem like a weird thing. How would this reinforce his testimony? However, in my experience, if God does not answer, that does NOT mean that he does not care. In fact, I think it means that he trusts you enough to make your own decisions. He gave you a brain and has given you the resources in order to progress and act in faith. If we stand around waiting for God to send an angel to talk to you, how will you recognize all the blessings and opportunities already in your life?
Anyway, just some food for thought.
On Monday, we got to go to the English Learning Center, and we went to the gym and played volleyball with our whole district! We even had a huge snowball fight with the Elders in our district. It was pretty cool. Anyways, the rest of the week was spent teaching English lessons and receiving teaching tips from actual English teachers!
One of the things that sucked this week is being sick for the whole week. It was super draining trying to teach while really needing a nap. But it's whatever. I really need to stop complaining, but I feel like if I only have good things to say, it would be boring.
On Thursday, we played a Mongolian game called "шадай" (sha-guy) that uses sheep ankle bones. Kind of weird, but we use weird things all the time. Anyway, this game is kind of like pool but played by flicking the little bones into each other based on which side the bone is laying on. You could also use the bones to tell your future, but it's silly.
We had a pizza party and got our teaching certificates on Thursday as well, which is awesome! The certificate is for teaching English as an international teacher. It's apparently super legit for other countries but not legit for teaching in the US. Which is probably a good thing since I only took a three-week course and had four days of actually teaching English.
It was really good to escape the MTC for the week and get some fresh air, but now we are back to intensive Mongolian learning and MTC food.
Anyways, that's all for now,
